- White Grape Juice (for vodka)2 oz
- Elderflower Cordial (for St-Germain)½ oz
- Vanilla Simple Syrup½ oz
- Japanese Soda (Ramune or similar)top up
- Ice—
Vanilla Simple Syrup
- Sugar1 cup
- Water1 cup
- Vanilla Bean or Extract1 pod or 1 tsp
Garnish
- Lemon twist or cucumber ribbonoptional
Method
- Make vanilla simple syrup (if needed). Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until dissolved. Add vanilla bean (split) or extract. Simmer 5 minutes, cool. Keeps in the fridge for 2–3 weeks.
- Build the drink. Fill a glass or shaker with ice. Add white grape juice, elderflower cordial, and vanilla simple syrup.
- Stir or shake gently. A quick stir is enough — you don't want to dilute it too much before adding the soda.
- Top with Japanese soda. Pour gently over the back of a spoon to preserve the fizz. Don't stir after adding the soda.
- Garnish. Add a lemon twist or cucumber ribbon over the rim. Serve immediately.
💡 The elderflower cordial (Belvoir or Bottle Green) carries the St-Germain floral note almost perfectly — it's the most important swap. White grape juice gives a clean, slightly sweet base like a neutral spirit. Cucumber water also works if you want something lighter and more delicate. Taste before serving — adjust sweet vs. floral ratio to your liking.
